Cammy's Upcoming, Twitch-Themed Color Variant Surprisingly Isn't Free, Sorry

Twitch is partnering with Street Fighter 6 to offer an exclusive purple Twitch-themed color for Cammy's Outfit 2

Yesterday, Capcom announced that Cammy would be getting an exclusive, Twitch-themed color for her Outfit 2. Street Fighter 6 has delved into the realm of Twitch drops before, but this new collaboration takes it a step further with this special, re-color offering. On X, the Street Fighter account made it seem quite easy to get, but their post is a tad bit deceptive.

Reading The Fine Print — The Costume Costs Money

While the Street Fighter team's post on X might make this promotion seem all-inclusive, unfortunately, this color variant for Cammy isn't available to just any "Twitch viewers." To get a code for the costume color, you need to gift or buy a Twitch subscription (of any tier) to a streamer within the Street Fighter 6 category. This is a requirement — there's no getting around it. Prime Subs are excluded so you have to pay out of pocket.

There's nothing really wrong with locking new costumes behind payments — it's what people are used to after all — but it's really weird to not be up-front about it. This is basically a $6 USD costume; it should be advertised as such. Of course, it has the added benefit of supporting a content creator so it's a little different from the norm. Still, it's really strange that Capcom chose to be so vague with their language.

The Twitch-exclusive Cammy color will only be obtainable between September 2, 2024 and September 30, 2024. It's important to not forget that!
