In the last Nintendo Direct, many fans could not believe that the Marvel vs. Capcom series would be coming back in an official fighting game collection. It came as a total surprise, and, for many fighting game fans, was an outstanding highlight of the Direct.

Today, Capcom has done it again at Nintendo's Partner Showcase with the announcement of Capcom Fighting Collection 2. Capcom continues their efforts to bring their classic catalogue to the forefront and now we have 8 more titles to look forward to, headlined by the Capcom vs. SNK series. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is expected to release some time in 2025. We also got a couple of updates on the Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection so keep reading to learn more about them.

Availability Is The Best Ability — Old Games Made Easy To Play

The eight games in Capcom Fighting Collection 2 are: Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, Capcom vs SNK: Millenium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs SNK 2: Mark of the Millenium 2001, Street Fighter Alpha 3 UPPER, and Capcom Fighting Evolution. This collection will bring with it features such as rollback netcode (to go alongside new online matchmaking), custom lobbies, a training mode, one button specials, soundtrack selection, concept art, and more.

As is the case for the old Marvel vs Capcom games in the other collection, a lot of the games within Capcom Fighting Collection 2 were only playable at arcades, unpopular in the Western market, and/or no longer easily purchasable and playable. In effect, these games are going to be completely new to today's fighting game audience. Of course, they'll also appeal to some people's nostalgia which is nice as well. The hype for these collections is well-deserved and it's great to see these games getting a second chance.
