Pokémon Legends: Z-A Announced For 2025

by William Hernandez

Pokemon Legends: Z-A comes out in 2025

The newest mainline Pokémon title has been revealed and it is not going to take place in either Johto or Unova as plenty of people expected. Instead, we're going to be going back to Kalos - more specifically, Lumiose City. According to Nintendo's Twitter account, the game is expected to be entirely contained within Lumiose. How exactly that will be done remains to be seen. What we do know is that the city is undergoing an "urban redevelopment plan" which will likely change the layout drastically from what we got accustomed to in X and Y. And just thinking about it for a second...how many species of Pokémon could possibly all fit within the city's limits?

What Pokémon Will Be Available?

At best, we can take a guess as for how many Pokémon will be available in some form. The trailer did show off a good amount of 'mons, though, so I'll list off the identifiable ones here: Absol, Aegislash, Arbok, Bellsprout, Dragonair, Eevee, Emolga, Espurr, Fletchling, Flabébé, Furfrou, Gogoat, Gyarados, Hawlucha, Heracross, Hippopotas, Klefki, Krookodile, Litleo, Magikarp, Meowstic, Pancham, Pikachu, Pinsir, Pyroar, Sandile, Staryu, Sylveon, and Talonflame. So that's at least 40 Pokémon accounting for other evolutions and pre-evolutions related to the Pokémon listed above. How exactly you'll be able to catch them is going to remain a question mark for quite a while, but it does seem like the selection will be pretty diverse.

From what we're hearing from the rumor mill, it seems like additional news for this game is quite a ways away. So not a whole lot more talking points. I'll leave the speculation process to the people who have been doing it for years. Pokémon Legends: Z-A could very well mark a new era of Pokémon titles by being the first entry of the series on the next Nintendo console. It could also very well be the last hurrah of the Nintendo Switch. Either way, expect greatness. We don't deserve anything less for either situation.
